The third grade team is hosting a parent literacy workshop to help you assist your child at home to enhance their literacy skills.
The workshop will be held on Wednesday, October 17, 2012 at 3:00 p.m they will be held in four languages as follows:

English presentation will be done in Room 103
Gujarati and Arabic in Room 105
Spanish in Room 203.

Please come in promptly as this would be a very valuable tool  to help your child make marked improvments in their literacy skills.

Exciting news!!!!!!!!

I purchased a reading program for our class called razkids.com, as we have so many different levels of reading in our class. I thought this would be ideal for our classroom and would enhance our reading skills.
I have also registered the students to dvelop thier basic math facts in addition, subtracion, multiplication and division  at xtramath.org please make sure your kids log into these sites everyday to enahance thier math and reading skills.

The kids have already begun working on thier math skills by logging into our class computer everyday the first thing in the morning.

I will introduce them to the reading site tomorrow. We will begin by assessing thier fluency, retelling skills and comprehension skills to set a reading level.

We had a tough, but productive beginning. We have started to adjust to our routines in third grade and I am certain that we will have an outstanding year. We have completed our fist round of State Assessment- REACH and MAP in Reading and Math. I will be sharing their scores individually with each of them and we will take about our goals for the next test which will be held in the winter. I shall sit with your child individually and together we will set a goal and an action plan to achieve it. Your cooperation in achieving that goal would be greatly appreciated.
Our open house was a big success as we had 70% of parents showing up which shows your interest in your child’s education. As I explained in the Open House, third grade is the benchmark grade, together we shall make it a successful school year!
